Needs and Gravy

Who doesn't  like gravy?  Most everybody likes to have the latest and greatest new fangled thingy  or whatchyoumacallit. I've been guilty of that, but not to the degree of others I know. Always having to get the latest bit of technology that comes along. I have always let others pay the higher price for the new gadgets,          I would wait for it to be proven before I would jump onto that Train. It wouldn't stop me from lusting after the latest and greatest gizmo though.
All the money we spend on toys trying to fill some kind of void in our lives usually ends up leaving us unsatisfied in the end. That new car smell is gone far sooner than the bills. The thrill of the ride is gone too soon.   I hate to think of all the hours wasted working to pay for all the things I no longer even have. Its life gone past that I will never get back. Its a shame that some of us dont realize this at a much earlier age, some don't at all.
I look at things different now, and have for some time now, when i lust after something now I don't ask how much is that?,  I ask myself how many hours of what little life I have left do I have to slave for this new thingy that will lose its luster too soon anyhow.
It took years to get out of that hole, buy now pay later. Its been a couple of years now being credit card FREE. I feel so much better, I could have financed a small country with the interest I've forked over to those big banks. I'm NEVER getting on that ride again.
Now I focus on my needs first. While I still have to work, my monetary requirements are smaller than ever which means less life force given to The Man and more I have for myself because time is something we never get back. My free time is more valuable than any " Thing" can ever be.
While I'm still working on divesting my self of years of accumulation, I've come a long way. Now that winter is gone by, the final push is on to get rid of the crap that's been hanging around way too long. My hope is that by fall I'll be footloose, and That will be my Gravy!!
